Life Cycle UK

Two's Company

Registered Charity Number 1077575

Bristol based charity 'Two's Company' provides sociable group tandem rides for adults who experience sight loss or have a visual impairment.  They also run separate rides for young people, some of whom also have learning difficulties or other developmental delay, which means they are not able to ride by themselves on a solo bike but can still enjoy a ride on a tandem with a trained volunteer on the front.

All rides have a trained and qualified, DBS certified, ride leader.  They provide the bikes and can help with transport to and from the start of the rides and with other cycling equipment on request. All rides are free.

They would like as many people as possible to come along to one (or more!) of three taster days where anyone who is visually impaired or is a young person who might benefit, can try out riding on the back of a tandem bicycle with experienced volunteers.  They have a range of tandems suitable for adults and children and Life Cycle staff on hand to advise on which ride would be most suitable.  The events also provide the opportunity to meet some of Two’s Company’s  existing members, find out more about the group and the organised group rides and enjoy a cup of tea and cake.

In 2019, they jointly ran these taster sessions with Ride Out Ride On

Queen Square, Bristol, BS1 4LF on Saturday 22 June 2019

St Matthias Park, St Jude’s, BS2 0BA on Saturday 6 July 2019

The Create Centre, Bristol, BS1 6XN on Saturday 10 August 2019

all between 11am and 2pm

Dates for 2020 will be set next year.

If interested please contact Robin at tandemrides@lifecycleuk.org.uk and he will send you further details.
