The Bristol Eye Hospital has a dedicated space that is protected for use by its junior doctors. Located on the 2nd floor of the Queen Anne building, this space is used for administrative work, clinical audit and as a place for taking breaks/rest whilst on call. In the past the room has been used by more than just the junior doctor workforce; however, the BEH is now limiting its use as the space is so important to this group.
A number of improvements had already been completed, including the removal of racking and purchase of comfortable seating and storage lockers. The new grant covered the installation of a sink and water boiler, with the associated plumbing work to complete this, together with a new refrigerator, which the NHS could not prioritise ahead of other demands for expenditure on clinical equipment or projects with health and safety risks.
The new space directly benefits the BEH’s 30 specialist registrar, clinical fellow and specialty doctors.
This grant cost £5,838.
